Publishing
Preparing written work for publication requires several rounds of meticulous revision. Even the best writers make errors that they cannot detect when preparing their manuscript for publishing. While grammar, spell check, and citation machines have made it easier to produce a decent piece of written work, a large majority of language errors cannot be picked up by spellcheck algorithms on the computer as they require complex linguistic rules. This is why we often require an editor to process and proofread written work.
Although the terms editing and proofreading are often used interchangeably, they are two different stages of the revision process. Both demand close and careful reading, but they focus on different aspects of writing and employ different techniques.
Here at the Linguists' Studio, we prepare a tight copy for publishing by doing several rounds of thorough checking of your manuscript.
We process content by editing and ensuring consistency in:
-
Text structure, paragraphing
-
Grammar, vocabulary & jargon
-
Tone, voice, & expression
-
Referencing, Citations
-
Tables, graphs, illustrations
-
Spelling, punctuation, & sentence structure
-
Paging, layout, & formatting
